Who we are
ESPA represents engineering, technical and management grades across EirGrid and ESB. We exist to give members a collective voice on pay, terms and conditions, and workplace issues — backed by the resources and legal standing of Ireland's largest trade union.
What started as a small branch has grown into an association with nearly 1,000 members across both organisations, and we continue to grow every year as more professionals in the energy sector look for proper representation at the table.

Beyond protection in disputes or negotiations, ESPA fosters a sense of solidarity and shared purpose, ensuring that no one has to navigate the challenges of their profession alone. We also support lifelong learning, offer access to resources and legal assistance, and can influence the policies that shape the future of the industry. Simply put, ESPA strengthens both the professional and the person.
ESPA is organised through committees that represent members across ESB and EirGrid, feeding into the Executive Committee. The association is driven by its membership and needs your support.
Executive Committee
Sets the overall direction of ESPA, leads negotiations with ESB and EirGrid, and represents the association at national level.
Sub Committees
Handle day-to-day issues at business-unit level, gather member feedback, and feed local concerns up to the Executive Committee.
